REVIEW: Lifeway Kefir*

Due to having Crohns I quite often have to follow a liquid diet especially when my tummy is unhappy. I struggle to find things I can actually have and enjoy. When I was contacted and asked if I wanted to try Lifeway Kefir I jumped at the chance. Milkshakes, smoothie and yoghurts are my go to when I’m on a liquid only diet. It’s so easy to just grab one and go.

Lifeway Kefir is a live cultured smoothie drink – when I read that I was terrified. What is this and why is my drink alive?! I was sent Original, Blueberry, Strawberry and Mango.

Out of all of them the Strawberry and Blueberry were my favourites. They say you can drink the Kefir on it’s own or use it in cereal or even add it to fruit. I personally wouldn’t do this because soggy fruit really freaks me out (yes I’m weird!).

When I first opened the Strawberry one I expected it to be thick like a smoothie. I was shocked when I saw that it was actually quite liquidy. It looks a bit like watered-down yoghurt. It has a very distinctive tangy taste which did shock me at first but towards the end I quite liked it. It isn’t very sweet either which I didn’t expect.

The natural one would definitely work well with cereal due to it being a natural flavour. The others in my option work great as a drink.

Have you tried any Kefir Products?
