I’ve finally gone and joined a gym! I said in an earlier blog post I wasn’t confident enough to go the the gym, well i’ve decided to push myself! Tomorrow night at 8pm is my induction and to be honest I can’t wait. I’ve been meaning to ‘officially’ start my fitness journey since January I know that we are now in August and I’m late but hey better late than never.
I have tried working out at home since then but I just can’t seem to make it a lifestyle choice. I decided giving the gym a go would be my best shot at getting fit and become a better person for me!
My goals
- Get fit (obviously)
- Lose weight
- Tone up (i hate my stomach and legs!)
- Enjoy it
There are the 4 goals I want to achieve. I’ve decided I want to be one of those people that really enjoys being active and going to the gym. I’m going to make weekly update posts and in a few months it will be good to look back and see how far I’ve come.
If anyone has any gym or fitness tips for me I would really appreciate hearing them!
Wish me luck in this journey

Hi Laura,
August 3, 2016 at 8:03 pmFirstly congrats on joining the gym. That's your first hurdle done.
I lost interest a fewhile yrs back and jacked it up. Also it was a financial thing too so decided to give it up. So last August my wife wants to lose some baby weight and a bit more so she joins Slimming World and I thought I'd support her along the journey too as I'd be eating the same food as her and try my best to conquer cravings for milk choc. Anyways, fast forward a year and I lost 2 and half stone and the wife lost even more but I thought I was looking a tad skinny so I joined the gym. A month into I am going 4-5 times a week and can see so many amazing results, the fact I have biceps and strength in my arms again is great as I want to play Rugby again. I also have a six pack coming! I'm 36 and I've never felt so great. My advice is go for it girl! Good luck with your journey. Best Regards, Carl of Wymondham, Norfolk.

Congrats on joining a gym and good luck with your fitness journey! I regularly work out from home and I think the biggest thing is just finding something that you actually enjoy doing. Like for me I hate running and boring types of cardio, but I don't mind interval training, kickboxing, dancing and boxing! None of those really feel like workouts to me so I stick with them!
