REVIEW: A cake through your letterbox?!

Yes you did read that right, I got a cake through the letterbox! I was asked to review one of the letterbox cakes from Baker DaysΒ and I couldn’t say know, mainly because I love cake. Baker Days gave me the choice of design and I went for the Hearts Collage design. I have to say I was sceptical at first because I didn’t understand how a cake could go through the delivery process, come through my letterbox and still be fresh, boy I was so wrong.

The cake took around 5 days to arrive which I think is great for something that has to be made. It came in a cardboard box and sure it enough it fit through the letterbox. (My postman knocked on the door but I checked that it would fit it the gap) When I opened it I was pleasantly surprised, in the box was a card, a leaflets, some candles balloons and a whistle and of course the main event the cake in a lovely tin which I will be keeping. As you can see from the third picture along the cake was wrapped in a bag which helped keep it fresh with instructions on how to remove.

I was very impressed at how clear and bright the design was. It was very colourful and pleasing to the eye. I honestly didn’t want to cut it but it smelt so good I couldn’t resist. The icing was very soft and easy to cut. The cake itself was very moist and not dry at all! Something which I didn’t expect. It had the nicest flavour and the icing was lovely too. We managed to get 8 slices out for it and every member of my family loved it (including the dog). Overall I was very impressed with the cake and wish I had another one.

You can purchase the cake from Β£14.99 from here. I think this would make the perfect gift and you honestly cannot go wrong. I would honestly recommend this to anyone.

Thank you so much Baker Days for sending me this cake to review!

What a great idea! Far more inventive than the usual emergency sneaky supermarket run.
