LETS TALK: I’m stuck in a blogging funk?

I would say since the end of 2016 I’ve been stuck in a blogging funk. I don’t know what it is but I cannot seem to shift it and to be honest, it’s really starting to get me down. My blog has been my hobby for a number of years and I guess it’s just normal to feel like this every now an again, I’ve set myself some tips or just some things to think about to try and shift this funk for good!

Go offline

Blogging is an online jungle. You are constantly on it even if you are not on your blog itself. Whether it’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or Snapchat. I really need to teach myself to just switch off and have time away from a screen. I need to try to not worry about rushing to get a post up. I’m hoping if I learn to switch off it will give me motivation.

Use the internet wisely

I have been procrastinating online so much during this funk. I’ll go online to write a post, get distracted and end up watching cat videos on YouTube (yes this actually happens). Instead of wasting my time I should really be using this time to find inspiration for posts.

Read more blogs

This seems like an obvious thing to do but to be honest I’m terrible at doing this and rarely do it. I really want to set aside some time each week or day to read some of other people’s posts. If you have any that you think I will love then please leave them below.

Don’t think about numbers

At the end of the day you didn’t start blogging to gain numbers, well at least I didn’t. I started because I wanted to share my thoughts with the world. It doesn’t matter if 1 or 1000 people are reading your posts. Sometimes I start to wish I had more people reading but then I remembered why I started and it makes me happy.

I’m really hoping this tips help shake my blogging funk and bring my blogging mojo back. If you have any tips then let me know, I would love to hear them.

I know this feeling all too well, and taking a break always made me feel more refreshed afterwards. Totally agree with reading other blogs too – I make it a habit to read at least 3 blog posts a day and it’s working!

How about taking a walk or going on a day trip in the countryside? I went away to the middle of nowhere last year so had minimal access to the internet/phone signal, and it really helped me connect more with what was around me. It’s quite a nice break too from the noise!

I’ve been in a blogging funk too! Like you, I grab my laptop with good intentions to blog but then find myself online shopping or something else! I’m trying to revise for an exam so after that, I want to get back into the blogging game. Like you, I might set aside one day a week (probably a Sunday or a day off) to comment on other blogs. I’m part of a commenting pod on Twitter so I comment on those blogs but I want to venture out further into the community. We all need to support each other! Don’t feel bad for not blogging; blog for yourself and when you have time to!
